Jen Hearts Koalas

We took a tour today of a wildlife sanctuary, the Blue Mountains and an Aboriginal cultural center.

You can touch almost all of the animals and many are just walking around.  This is a baby kangaroo: a joey.

In Sydney it is illegal to hold a koala but in other parts of Australia you can.

Tasmanian devil.  Didn't seem too devilish.

A dingo.

A ghost bat.

A frog-mouthed owl.

Then we learned how to throw a boomerang.  We both got it to return.

Then we headed to the Blue Mountains and saw the Three Sisters.

And took a cable car into the rainforest.

That's orphan rock.

Jen tested how strong the vine was.

It used to be an old mining area so there is some leftover equipment.

Coal.

Then we took the world's steepest train.  It was a bit scary how it moves behind the rock face.

That's Katoomba falls.

Then we went to the Aboriginal Cultural center.  While this seems the most touristy part of the day, it was actually the best part.  It was super interesting.

We danced with them in front of a large crowd--we were the only two chosen.

Then to another lookout.

This is where the Sydney Olympics were.

Then a ferry ride home.

More people on the bridge.

Then to Chinatown.  We miss Asia.

Then walking around the City.
