Another Amazing Drive From Wanaka to Franz Josef

First we walked around Wanaka...

Then we explored some of the most important sites...

Then we went to Rippon vineyards which is listed to be the vineyard with the best view in the world--we agree.

The wine was excellent too.

Then we continued the drive--I love driving here because it is a bit like driving a race car because the roads are narrow, windy and the speed limit is very high.

Lake Hawea is another amazingly beautiful lake.

Then we hiked to the "Blue Pools."

Not so blue at all.  Apparently because there has been so much rain, there is a lot of silt so we would need to wait a week until after the rain to see the blue color, but still beautiful.

Overlooking the Tasman sea there was another World Heritage site on the side of the road.

Then we stopped at a salmon farm.

Then we arrived in Franz Josef and had a delicious meal at Alice May's--apparently she was the grandmother of the owner and was infamous for having killed her boyfriend after he got her pregnant and refused to marry her when she lost the baby, but gained public support due to her story and was released from prison after thousands signed a petition.  Strange, but delicious.
