Hippos Go Berserk

We headed out on our first full day in the Massai Mara in Kenya at 6:30am with a packed breakfast.

I never get tired of seeing the elephants.  They are definitely my favorite.  That is one of the tents just behind the elephant.  They kept the other folks up all night ripping down trees.  There are very few trees in Kenya because the elephants ripped them all down.

That is the well right near the camp.

The sunrise was amazing.

We saw the same pride of lions in a different area.  They sleep most of the day.

An adolescent male.  We still have not seen the adult male.

Lots of wildebeests

And warthogs

And we saw a cheetah on the hunt.

We waited a while but it seemed like it was taking a nap.

We saw a colorful bird.  I forget what it is called.

Ostrich

Warthogs

Then we stopped for breakfast, setup tables and sat and watched tons of noisy hippos.  They are nocturnal because they need to stay out of the sun.

They really do go berserk

Then more elephants...

Then we went back and found the same cheetah.

He had killed an impala and we missed it!  We would've had to wait two hours.

Then tons more elephants.  They are never boring.

A couple were fighting.

Baboon

Giraffe

Then we found more lions.

An owl

I forget this bird's name too

Warthog and elepant

More birds

Baby elephant suckling

Two antelope were fighting very fiercely but they stopped when we tried to drive closer

Then we stumbled upon some more snoozing lions.

They were out

A one horned antelope

The sun began to set

I forget what this animal is called

Another amazing day
