I love New Zealand

We started the drive from Christchurch to Franz Josef, New Zealand where we were planning to see the glaciers.  First we toured Christchurch which was devastated by an earthquake in 2011.  It is a ghost town.

Then we started the drive to Franz Josef.  It is a little tricky driving on the left, but the hard part is really that their roads are narrow windy with speed limits of our highways.  But it is amazingly beautiful.  After driving for an hour, we reached signs that the only road to Franz Josef was closed due to flooding, landslide and a bridge being out so we changed our hotel with some help from a local as we were in an area with no cell phone reception.  Instead we headed on the scenic drive to Wanaka.  It is even more beautiful than the pictures.

We saw the world's largest jersey.

The lakes are the most amazing color blue.

Almost every bridge is one lane.

There is lots of silt in the water because the glaciers grind the rocks and then melt carrying it down.

This is Lake Tekapo--one of the many amazing lakes we saw.

This is a very pretty church next to the lake.

We also stopped along the way and bought salmon sashimi that was caught in the lake--it was exceptional.
