Yachting on the Mekong

We got up early to head to the Mekong Delta to spend the night on a boat.

We stopped on the way for a drink at a lovely place...

We started our tour by heading in a small boat to see the floating market.  The market is busier earlier in the morning but it was still cool to see how wholesale fruit is bought and sold.

Rice...

Pineapples...

They hang the item for sale on a stick.  That's a pumpkin.

We bought a pineapple.  It was delicious but the carving was the most impressive part.

The boats all have painted eyes indicating the type of product they sell.  The eyes were added because people treat their boats like a member of their family.

Then we headed to the private boat we would be spending the night on.

It is surprisingly nice though a little weird that is all our own with 6 crew.

Lunch was by far the best meal we ate in Vietnam.  The woman on the boat is an amazing chef.

We napped a little.

And sat on the front of the boat while we cruised.

We drank drinks.

Watched the sunset.

We stopped at a town for a bike ride.  It was scary because we were riding on bumpy one foot square blocks so we were struggling not to fall in the water or into a fence as we road.

Then we walked around a local market while the chef picked up some ingredients.

Then back on the boat to continue to cruise and we watched while the chef cooked another ridiculously good dinner.  I think it helped a lot that all the ingredients were super fresh.

Jen's favorite fruit is a mangosteen.

Then we hung out and headed to bed.  The anchored near a town, we think for safety reasons so it was a bit loud but I put in earplugs and slept like a baby.
