Day 2 in Nha Trang

Another beautiful day at the beach...

The waves were huge.  I fell down twice on my two attempts to go in so we headed to the pool.

Then to the lunch at Yen's--the number 2 restaurant in Nha Trang--it was pretty good...

Then we went to the see the Cham towers...

The statue was missing it's head...

These women were weaving in we assume a traditional fashion, it was amazingly complex...

Then we went to Hon Chong Promontory rock formation.  The pictures don't do it justice.  It was amazing...

The ground was all bits of dead coral...

That's a hand print supposedly of a woman that lost her husband and died waiting for him by the ocean...

Then we walked up a 155 stairs to see the giant Buddha...  More swastikas...

More reclining Buddhas...

Then we sat in a bell and a man did a blessing for healing...

There were lots of pictures and notes inside the bell asking to help people with health problems...

Surprisingly it was not too loud when the bell was rung multiple times...

The healing prayer backfired as Jen hit her back climbing out of the bell...

Vietnam has lots of influence from other surrounding cultures.  Chinese people believe turtles bring luck...

Then we saw a Catherdral...

Our taxi driver drove us everywhere and waited for us.  People are very trusting as we had not paid him.  He ran the meter but it only went up about ten cents in 30 minutes.  Always lots of motorbike traffic especially when it is time to pick up kids at school...

Then we went to the Oceanographic institute.  Worse aquarium ever.

Sharks were swimming around in open tanks low enough for kids to stick their hands in...

Most of the fish are pickled...

Or decaying out in the open...

It was a bit uncomfortable that this very young boy who didn't speak any English followed us around and kept grabbing us and pointing at things that he was excited about.  We weren't sure what to do.

Back to the hotel for buffet of street food...

And dancers...
